April General Meeting Feedback

Highlight of the meeting was a talk by Chris Mitchell describing the journey to get his Access dinghies accepted by the yachting fraternity and general public alike. The video footage of some disabled sailors excelling in their new found sport on an equal footing against the able bodied was both inspirational and uplifting. With the AGM occuring in August, we will have time for 1 further general meeting in early June. We are trying to get Paul Larson as our main guest speaker. Paul recently totalled his "Sail Rocket" whilst practising for the world sail speed record. He was doing 33 knots in 16.5 knots of wind ( a bit faster then Quickskips), dumped his main a little too quickly and the resulting compressive loads caused huge amounts of damage... Will all rusty cruising sailors please put 5th May in your diaries. We plan to have a "May Multi Muster" at Cape Woolamai. Unless you can fit under the bridge at San Remo, we plan to poke our heads out into the Bass straight, turn left and amble down to Woolamai on Saturday morning. After an overnight Muster, we will poke our heads back out again and return home. Planning is in its infancy at the moment, and we are looking to Alex for leadership, but if you like the idea a quick email to me at tappers@bigpond.com indicating possible attendance would be good. Only 2 races left on the Summer series calendar... hope to see as many as possible on Saturday..
