HYC-RACE 7. 27/03/10 DAYLIGHT ROBBERY STEALS RACE.

What a great day for sailing, nearly perfect weather conditions, 10-15 knots and didn’t the Multihull fraternity come out and play. 7 boats battled it out in the 7th HYC summer series race. Dads Army (Redshift) lead most of the way up to the top mark, however couldn’t hold off the magnificently crewed e-marineworld who rounded the buoy one boat length in front. Spinnakers up and a dog fight between the two fierce crews for line-honors was on.

After 2-4 gybes watching every move they did some smarty ask,” What’s that little boat in the distance, it’s going really fast, he’s going to pass us.”” Don’t be stupid, no one will pass us from here” came the reply. “But lets keep an eye on Redshift just incase. George can be crafty and we can still hear Terry talking, so they’re to close for comfort.”

Well we won’t do that again, it was our 5th crew members first time sailing, but he was right! That little boat happened to be Daylight Robbery closely followed by the RED HOT Chilli Peppers and they were steaming down the French island side in great pressure. Daylight Robbery looked great as she sailed past and beat e-marineworld over the line by 54 seconds followed by Redshift then Chilli. Well done Rob and crew….

Great to see Al back with Mustang Sally, obviously in cruising mode still, all girl crew (how does he do it?) , the second anchor on the back just incase and BBQ, incase they wanted to get Sally really smokennn!!!!

“With Teeth” was out again which is always good, because the Big Fella always gives us a headline. Problem was, he was so far back we didn’t see or hear him. When we quizzed his crew, (Shaun) he said, “I’ve nothing to report because I fell asleep most of the race”. Well! wait to he gets his next boat on the water, you won’t fall asleep on it. Rumour has it; it will be finished for Geelong next year. That will put the fear into 34 channel markers around Western Port; imagine doing his Big Fella kiss at 20 knots… The question is, how strong is carbon?

Leon on Rainbow connection doesn’t have to worry about doing 20 knots, but rounded off the fleet with his ever reliable tri finishing the race around 36 minutes after Daylight Robbery. Always a dark horse on handicap and someone who sails his little boat to the limit. The results under HYC PHC were:

After reading the results I bet the Fly Deck chair would have loved to of been out there. It was his weather…. Next race is the 10th of April and the final one for the summer series. Hope to see you all there and a Safe and Happy Easter to all.
