WAFIR results... Good win for QuickSkips

This years Warneet Around French Island Race had 7 multi's competing. The start was delayed and moved to Joes Island because of the light winds. At the Gun, Shuttle, Redshift, Quickskips and Mustang Sally were quickish out of the blocks. Cascade was observed making last minute adjustments to something resulting in a leisurly start some minutes later....We were all flying spinakers and trying to get the best from the light winds across the top of the island. Redshift and Quickskips slowly pulled out a lead with George playing the angles and Skips looking for boat speed. Shuttle held onto Sally for a while but Al put his A into G and started catching the lead boats....well he pulled away from Shuttle at least! As usual, the wind picked up as we skirted down the East of the Island with the tide helping progress significantly. It was basically a port beat down the east and then a starboard beat along the south of the island with winds up to 12 knots. Cascade was starting to catch Shuttle and Trifle was quietly getting on with the job in her usual efficient fashion. The 3 lead boats were romping off into the distance at this stage, the west leg being almost a dead run to the finish off Crawfish rock. By the time we had all crossed the finish line the wind had picked up a little which helped the beat back to Hastings. When the results were computed, Quickskips was the winner beating Redshift by about 40 seconds on corrected time. Trifle pipped Shuttle at the post for 3rd place by 2 seconds! Sally was 5th and Cascade 6th. Well done Quickskips.... was that Chris helming?
