SOMR 2007 Notice

Dear Multihuller

Advanced notice of SOMR 2007.

This years Southern Oceans Multihull Regatta has been shortened to 4 days to allow competitors to combine it with Geelong week and spend 1 stretched week of 9 days exciting and varied racing in Westernport and Port Phillip.

After 4 days of intensive Westernport racing and a lunchtime prize giving, we take a day off to cruise in company around to Port Phillip for an overnight stay at the new Martha Cove Marina. There are launching facilities nearby for those that would prefer to drive around. The following morning we have the inaugural Martha to Melbourne race which is now incorporated in the Geelong week calendar. After overnighting at a Docklands Marina we join the anticipated 250 strong Mono fleet for the passage race to Geelong. We then have 2 further days of racing in Corio Bay.

Highlights of the week should be…..

	We are proposing the introduction of a SOMR Team event. Put a team together of 3 boats from your club and race for the Team floating trophy and win bragging rights for your club for a year
	Individual trophies for Performance handicap, OMR and Line honours
	Sponsors Goodies (if we can find one with lots of cash)
	Regatta shirts (cheap if we get the right sponsor)
	Free berthing at Westernport Marina for the week and also at Martha’s Cove ($30 for the night at Docklands….)
	New format SOMR Presentation Lunch ( more time for partying!)
	Social events most evenings
